Eric Horstmann: Basics of immersive audio

In this talk, Eric Horstmann will give an overview of different immersive audio formats and how to use them. He will cover all aspects, from speaker layouts to production tools. He will also talk about the professional use of speakers in different setups, from stereo to immersive, and show the importance of room acoustics, speaker placement and speaker calibration.
The talk is aimed at game developers, producers, composers, sound designers and audio directors, as well as anyone interested in immersive audio and professional loudspeakers.

Eric Horstmann has a long history with immersive technologies, having led the technical implementation of the first Dolby Atmos cinema mixing in Germany. Since then, Eric has mixed extensively in immersive formats and is an expert advisor to those looking to improve their immersive audio workflow. After high-level positions at Avid, Eric joined Genelec in 2018 as Regional Business Development Manager for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
